Who we are

Sumantic is a boutique engineering firm built on a small number of deeply experienced specialists in trading systems and market data — people who have spent careers inside brokerages and exchanges, not adjacent to them. We take on a small number of clients so that every engagement gets senior attention through build and ongoing support. A small, senior team is a feature, not a constraint: fewer hands, each deeply experienced, is what lets us move at the speed the business needs.

The founders

Leadership pairs two complementary careers, described here by credential rather than name. One founder built a kdb+/q consultancy that was later acquired by private equity, was on the founding team of a major capital-markets software firm, and is among the foremost kdb+/q practitioners, with deep OTC trading-risk and real-time analytics experience. Their individual career work has been delivered for institutions including NYSE, FXCM, and BNY Mellon — career history, not Sumantic client relationships.

The other founder is a 23-year broker-technology leader who was CTO of a major retail broker, scaling a roughly 500-person technology organization through a five-fold revenue period, a NYSE IPO, and the transition from FX-only to multi-asset CFD. They later launched a multi-asset trading platform from scratch in about 18 months at a Jefferies-owned brokerage, and lead the consulting practice and the AI Acceleration Program.

The engineering team

Every engagement is powered by a dedicated, no-bench team of senior software engineers, hand-picked for velocity and ownership. They live in the code alongside the founders, fully dedicated to your account, with zero bench and zero hand-offs. There is no junior layer learning on your project.

How an engagement runs

We start with a diagnostic phase. Where it helps, that includes a live demonstration of our adversarial agentic AI pipeline run on your own material, so you can see the method work on a real problem rather than a canned demo. A senior engineer provides oversight throughout, at every gate, and nothing reaches your environment unreviewed.

The first meeting is designed to be thirty minutes of real value — a useful technical conversation whether or not we go on to work together. We treat Iterative Delivery and Development as the methodology we execute best, not one we claim to have invented: ship value continuously, review every artifact, and keep the client in control.

Project types

  • Low-latency trading infrastructure, engineered to a broker's exact operating model.
  • Time-series capture, storage, and analytics across billions of events.
  • Trading risk and PnL observability, including order-flow segmentation and automated controls.
  • Copy-trading and message-transport capture taken straight off a broker's core transport.
  • AI-accelerated delivery: an agentic SDLC under senior-engineer oversight.
